The specific objective of this project is to develop methodological guidelines as well as to provide information to the Parties in the Region in designing and implementing a national e-waste inventory program. Geographical scope is South-East Asian countries. Cooperating Agencies are BCRC-SEA, SBC, National Focal Points and other stakeholders. Period of Implementation is August – December 2006.

The Cooperating Agencies of this project are BCRC-SEA, SBC/UNEP and DOWA ECO-SYSTEM CO., LTD., Relevant governments and / or ministries of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and other stakeholders. The overall objective of this project is to establish the actual scheme of environmentally sound management of e-wastes, especially for end-of-life mobile phones. To achieve the overall objectives, the following activities will be undertaken: (a) Investigation of the current state of end-of-life mobile phones and e-waste in the following South-East Asian countries: Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. (b) Establishment and implementation of the pilot scheme for the collection and transboundary movement of end-of-life mobile phone between Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan. Period of Implementation is December 2006 - March 2007

BCRC-SEA assists the SBC (UNEP/SBC) to translate this document into Urdu, as one of the activities under the Project for the Implementation of the Technical Guidelines for the Environmentally Sound Management of the Full and Partial Dismantling of Ships, being implemented by UNEP/SBC. Period of Implementation is October - December 2006
