The workshop is hosted by UNEP, Basel Regional Convention Regional Centre for South-East Asia (BCRC-SEA) and ILO.

The objective of the workshop is to raise awareness amongst environmental officers of Ministries, national and international NGOs, redevelopment and UN agencies of the dangers and health impacts of asbestos containing materials and potential management options, particularly in tsunami (and other disaster-related) reconstruction activities in the region.
